Drug crisis

We cannot continue the current path.

It is not working

Our community has lost our way. We are allowing people in the clutches of addiction to continue down the dark path that all to often ends in death. What we are doing is not working, not working for the addict, their family, and their community.

The legislature recently overturned Phil Scotts veto on safe injection sites. Those are not the answer. We have to help people change, not continue to hurt themselves. It is a mental health crisis and we should treat it as such. I would like to see mandatory rehab for overdoses. Not only does it keep the person safe it would give peace of mind to their loved ones that care.

We also need to have stronger punishments for those dealing the poison in our community. If you sell drugs and it results in a death, involuntary manslaughter maybe manslaughter. A person selling massive amounts of drugs can be back on the streets within days. That is not healthy for our community. They are a danger to society and we cannot allow them to poison our friends and family members.
